Downtown Paia has fun shops, good spots for lunch, and continues to get more "sophisticated." It is a combo of cool locals and lots of tourists. There is a great ice cream shop. Head to the coast nearby to see world class windsurfers in action.

This is known as "upcountry" and the "cowboy" town of maui but it seems more like a spot with lots of craft shops and a nice stroll. There are great places by the road to pick up flowers.
