Outstanding coffee in a beautiful house on Paseo de la Presa, across the street from the park. Best espresso in Guanajuato. Very chic space. High end origin coffee. Twice as expensive as Café Tal, but worth it if you're willing to pay 40 pesos for an espresso. Opens at 2pm, though.

Outside of Guanajuato in the Santa Rosa mountains, but worth the trip. Gourmet food (Mexican with French and international influences). Off the highway to Dolores Hidalgo, a few kilometers past Santa Rosa. Hard to get to without a car, though. Interesting places to hike nearby.

Decent food with excellent service. Old school Mexican style. In an extremely pleasant patio with trees, birds, wind chimes, etc. You can’t see the city from the patio, only the surrounding hills. A solid place for breakfast, but I don’t recommend lunch or dinner there, unless you want something very close to the apartment (it’s a 3 minute walk from the apartment; it’s the closest formal restaurant to the apartment).

Japanese-run bakery with delicious scones and cakes. Despite the name, they don’t actually sell bread. Along with Biga and 33, among the best bakeries in Guanajuato. Located in the Embajadoras parking lot, just below the apartment.
