Consistently rated one of the best new restaurants to open last year, this place is amazing. Good luck getting a reservation, best bet is to arrive early and put your name in for the bar expecting an hour or two wait. Get a drink nearby or in their backyard in the meantime.

Drinks & Nightlife

With three shows every night of the week and a maximum cover of $10 (if there is one), Barbés is always a good bet for hearing live music in a (very) small venue. The shows are eclectic - check the website for listings - with anything from bluegrass to slavic brass bands to salsa. I've been to dozens of shows there and they've all been great.

Parks & Nature

It's the best park in New York City. The apartment is near the entrance by the big field where everyone likes to picnic (or build snowmen in the winter), but continue further east if you want to explore tiny dirt paths by a ravine with waterfalls, the Prospect Park Zoo, ice skating, the lake, the famous Sunday afternoon gazebo drum circle, etc. There's several great running loops as well.
