Music venues

Portland has an incredibly active music scene for such a small city with lots of great artists visiting all the time.
Great music scene, usually no cover charge, just donations for the band and great drinks

Breweries

Portland is a beer Mecca. Pretty amazing how much wonderful beer we have in this tiny city. You can take a beer tour so you don't need to worry about anything or just walk around town on a brewery crawl.
One of our favorite breweries with all our favorite beer. Try Substance, Lunch, Baby Genius or or Lux. It's all good. making Bissell Brothers a regional favorite featured at many local restaurants. The brewery, right near Thompson's Point, has great atmosphere and is always hopping )pun intended). Try out the food trucks and stroll around to the other businesses there for a taste of local life. Even better when there is a concert at Thompson's Point.

Neighborhoods

Lovely little island that is actually a neighborhood of Portland, accessible by a ferry leaving from the Casco Bay terminal. The ferry ride is only about 15 minutes each way and is beautiful. Get off at the island and have something to eat, go to the beach, take a walk or rent a golf cart to cruise around, visit the craggy shore or the Battery Steel--an old defensive structure. The sunsets over the Portland skyline from Peaks are amazing. Ferries leave almost hourly and the tickets are very cheap.
