Open from 7am, the Olympia is Kalk Bay is an institution with fresh bread and pastries baked daily on the premises. Lunch and dinner are always excellent - seafood, pasta and great carnivore fare. The Olympia does not take bookings but you'll always get a seat - the wait, if any, is worth it.

Sightseeing

The highest point in Cape Town with panoramic 360 degree views over Cape Town. It's a must-see. Either catch the cableway up or if you're feeling energetic take one of the many hiking trails up (good fitness level required) There is a restaurant on top of the mountain which is worth a visit.

The views at at cape Point are spectacular with the Atlantic ocean to one side and the Indian ocean to the other. A waypoint on the clipper route of old. also a great location for whale spotting, hiking and picnics on the beach.

Train services run between Simonstown and Cape Town stopping along the way (including Kalk Bay) while the trains are O-K, you'd be better off using a car (all the main rental companies have a presence in Cape Town) or a taxi - Uber are by far the most efficient and cost-effective
