Easily one of the most beautiful wineries in Sonoma Valley, Matanzas Creek sits amid 1,500 acres of Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Syrah vines. The visiting area, surrounded by meticulously landscaped gardens, water-lily pools, and fields of fragrant lavender, feels like a botanist’s private estate; there’s a tree-shaded deck from which to survey it all while you sample flights. Inside is an airy, wood-paneled tasting bar and also a more intimate Vintage Room, which hosts private tastings and cheese-pairings.
