You simply walk down the stairs and you're there! The cafe is quaint and beautiful. Baristas are friendly during the day, and the bartenders at night come with free stories. Try the shisito peppers and the spicy shrimp.

You can pull a stool up to the bar for their $5 happy hour burger and a beer, or sit down for their famous hot chicken sandwich. Versatile menu to please really anyone in a sophisticated but casual setting

If I ever win the lottery and contract a tape worm on the same day, then I'll probably eat at Barbuzzo for the rest of my life. Recommended: chicken liver-foie mousse, autumn shaved salad (shaved brussel sprouts, kohirabi, celery root, lemon, toasted hazelnuts), funghi pizza and the pan seared gnocchi

One of the best happy hours in the city with a specialty cocktail and house wine for $4, draft beer for $3, and then tons of delicious small plates for under $5. On summer nights you can find a hidden patio in the back called The Grafitti Bar. This is a perfect place to take a date for delicious food (try the edamame dumplings) and then drinks out back.

Drinks & Nightlife

The best dive bar I've ever been to, period. Pool and darts upstairs, walls of graffiti, gritty bartenders, and cheap drinks. Only bring your mom if she has the tattoos to prove she's worthy

Two R's on the back alley door is the only indicator it's the spot. Dark, quiet, 1920s feel, lit by candles. Ideal place to sip whiskey after robbing a bank or poisoning your husband with arsenic. If you eat at El Rey and ask your server they'll let you walk back through the kitchen right into The Ranstead Room. Bring your dollar bills because the drinks are delicious but aren't cheap!

A Jose Garces favorite offering a deal of a happy hour with cool, simple looking decor. A distinctly urban feel. Tinto means wine in Spanish, so you can guess what their specialty is. Diverse tapas list, and cool bar with beautiful antique vaulted ceilings.
