Spelunk into a lava tube. It's dark in there, bring a headlamp! Actually, bring more than one source of light. If your light fails, it's pitch black in there! Directions: Drive 9 miles north of Flagstaff on US 180 and turn west (left) on FR 245 (at milepost 230). Continue 3 miles to FR171 and turn south 1 mile to where FR 171B turns left a short distance to Lava River Cave. For more information please contact Flagstaff Ranger District at 928-526-0866.

An easy, mostly level, two-mile scenic loop trail located on McMillan Mesa. This walking/running trail is very popular with the locals as a daily exercise site, or as a launch point for more challenging trails up the Peaks and Mt. Elden. Great for a walk with sunset and sunrise views.

The BEST SUNSET SPOT in Flagstaff is at the parking lot located near to the entrance to AZ Snowbowl. Once you take the AZ Snowbowl turn off of Hwy 180, the paved road up the mountain is 8 miles of steep and winding turns. During winter months use extreme caution, 4 wheel drive recommended when snow is present. Oh yeah, you can ski there too. I recommend the SCENIC CHAIR LIFT during non-winter months.
