Parks & Nature

The beach is lovely, close to Barna Woods, which is anothe worth seeing place, on the outskirts of town. A nice walk (~45min) will cover both places. P.S.: If you manage to pass the fence on the left side of the beach and climb the hill, you'll be able to see the Salthill Promenade from the top and the Burren, right across the canal :)

Nice little forest, good for people that like a good hike or bike trip... Silverstrand beach is also worth going before heading back to Galway.

There is a diving tower at the end of Salthill promenade, if you're not afraid of combo cold water + heights, you should definitively give it a go :p

There is an old castle in ruins up by the corrib river, don't try to get there by yourselves because it is easy to get lost on the way, but is a worthy place for a picnic/fishing by the riverside.

Shopping

There are many nice things on this market, I'll try to do a short list: The Cheese booth offers great variety of local cheese for an affordable price. (their yogurt is heavenly). Best Donuts you'll have for less than an euro. Fresh fish and bread by the sidewalk of Market St. You can get half a dozen fresh oysters there as well :) For the vegans, on Sunday, there is a great Indian Trailer serving take-away dishes for two for 8 euro! There is also many handcraft vendors, pottery, leather, soap, etc.. :)
