Not as close as the Stop and Shop, but in a plaza with a Starbucks, Marshals, etc. The Basket has a great baked goods department

If you need something fast- this is a short 3 minute walk from the house. You pay more- but beats getting in the car.

Again, if the Pratville Market doesnt have it, this place might. Not a far walk either and slightly bigger. If not, you are off for a car ride to Stop and Shop.

This is a GEM! Non-touristy, NEW and very good food. Attentive staff because they only just opened and want everyone to return. Tables and a bar area. Biggest draw back- a little loud. $20 plates- cheaper than Boston itself, but more expensive than say other Chelsea haunts like the Dockside.

The burgers are great- a short walk to Jeffries Point- and the cocktails are incredible. The name is an homage to the old Cunard shipping lines that stopped in Boston.

Sightseeing

Jefferies Point is rapidly gentrifying, so it's an interesting place to visit. Specifically, go to Piers Park and you will be able to see all of Boston- from the North End, through the Financial District to South Boston. You can also go the the area near the Hyatt Boston Harbor Hotel to get a water taxi to the city if you are up for a little adventure (One if by land... Two if I by see... )

Well- don't go to the home, but across the street is the Madonna Queen of the Universe Shrine. Don't go on Sundays as there are masses in the morning, but any other time is great - the views are wonderful from behind Madonna- looking over the airport you can see the whole of Boston. The church is below and built into the hill (the area in Eastie- aka East Boston, is called Orient Heights). I recommend any denomination visit the church- it has some interesting art.

There is a lot of colonial history there. Usually you can get some parking if you are lucky. Or take the 111 from Chelsea to Haymarket (see transportation recommendations) and do the part of the freedom trail if you are up for a walk. (There is always Uber if you get tired!)

Not "close" like the others listed here, but not "far" either. If you like unique ciders- this is the place to be. Also, an easy stop after a day in Salem. I recommend "the jalapeno and pineapple' cider.

Getting Around

This is the closest bus stop. The bus is the 111. It goes in bound if you stand at the stop near Pratville Pizza, all the way to the Orange line at Haymarket. To come back out of the city, get on at Haymarket, and off at this stop (it puts you on the side of the large parking lot, so cross the street and walk up Washington away from McDonalds- and you are at your home away from home! MBTA schedules are available on line. My recommendation if you have a car is to drive to "WONDERLAND" parking garage/T-stop and take the Blue line in. It is only about $5 to park for 12-14 hours.

The Silver Line 3 now comes and goes from Chelsea! Great as 90% of this bus (but considered a subway) route is on its own road = no traffic! You can do a 15-20 minute walk downhill there, uphill coming home, to Market Basket where the T stop is. Ride is about $2.75 one way. Far cheaper than paying for parking in Boston.

If you want to shop- this is the place. Not far from the State Street Blue line T stop. Cheap- like the Irish Target. But right in the middle of the city.
