Sightseeing

The Forks is Winnipeg's favourite and most famous attraction. It's a public space that has something for everyone, a market place with many shops, restaurants and pubs. It's a National Historic Site and has been a meeting place for over 6,000 years; early Aboriginal peoples traded at The Forks, followed by European fur traders, Métis buffalo hunters, Scottish settlers, riverboat workers, railway pioneers and tens of thousands of immigrants. Today it hosts many events in the heart of city and is only a 15 minute walk over the Esplanade Riel bridge. Personal favourites here include the riverwalk, The Common, pizza at Red Ember, coffee at Fools and Horses.
