Ways to save
Most museums ask for donations.
Don't be duped into paying unless you really really want to pay. Otherwise a dollar donation is sufficient. Don't be shy about that.
Getting around
If taking cabs
DL a GPS(ie:WAZE) to make sure taxi is going the most efficient route. Otherwise they'll go the longest way possible to charge you the most possible. FYI there's an immediate surcharge just for entering taxi I'm not 100% sure of price but it's between $4-$5.00. So if you can walk it or get to your destination a better way-definitely do it.

Citibike is the best way to get around in NYC IMO
There's a CitiBike docking station directly in across the street. Check for e-bike availability first. They are taken quickly, so catch them if you can! If not, regular bike will do the trick as well!
