Gilmanton is famous for the book Peyton Place written by Grace Metalious in 1956 which was later made into a soap opera from 1964 to 1969 on ABC.
Gilmanton will be celebrating 124 years of Old Home Day August 20, 2022, they cook beans in cast iron pots under ground. Bean Hole Supper includes brown bread right out of the can. The bean hole pits began in 1960.
Year round farmers market is located at 41 Providence Road, fresh baked breads, eggs, honey, maple syrup, gluten free items, jams, jewelry, soaps, fruit , books and greeting cards.
Although there are no stores in Gilmanton, Belmont has many convenient stores, a Dunkin' Donuts, Jordon's Ice Cream, breakfast at J & J Yolk and Brook Side Pizza.
Gilmanton's Snowmobilers Association appreciates the generosity of the land owners who share their land for the outdoor enthusiasts.
