Bars / Drinking Establishments

A classic Woodbridge neighborhood bar with surprisingly good food. Elevated pub food, vegan options and even healthy meals. Delish. Vintage furniture, charming details and music that gets louder as it gets later. An eclectic Detroit Cheers vibe.

Sightseeing

I took friends in town from Paris and London, and they said the DÍA was one of the more impressive museums they’ve been to. Bold statement and it makes me proud of my city. If you love art and a visit to the museum, you’ll enjoy it here. They are open later of Friday evenings. Until 9 or 10 I believe. 5 min drive / Uber / lyft away.

Plan to dedicate a day to it if it’s nice outside and you want to walk through both the museum (indoor) AND Greenfield Village (outdoor).

Nature Fix / Walking Trails

My personal favorite trail that I visit regularly. Visit Henry and Clara Ford’s estates in Dearborn for a slice of history, nature and inspiration. You can see where the auto billionaire lived and housed his own vehicles and then explore the many trails behind their family home. It’s a special and serene place filled with plenty of wildlife sightings. 🦌🦅🐍🦃🦉🐇

Neighborhoods

Cute, quality shops and good eats. Walk around and explore. Lots of great small businesses unique to Detroit with lots of great finds. My faves: Bon, Bon Bon for the best handmade chocolates. City Bird and Nora: my fave elevated gift shops / general stores. Ice cream: Cold Hard Truth: vegan soft serve ice cream 🍦and it’s so damn good, whether you eat vegan or not.

One of my absolute faves. Super fresh and surprising Asian fusion. Flavorful and inventive food, yummy cocktails, and an atmosphere that is electric and gritty, bright and dim all at the same time. Intriguing isn’t it? So good. 🌶 🍲 🥃
