My favorite is the $40 dollar Bavarian Coconut Passionfruit Cream Sponge Cake. If you're not willing to throw away your whole budget on a small cake, make sure to get the bread pudding of the day, the quiche of the day, a morning bun and an almond croissant with a side of coffee. Don't worry if the staff isn't friendly, I think they're just tired of tourists still unsure of their order, mid order.

Arguably the best croissants in town. The French couple who run this bakery would probably say so too. The chocolate croissant tastes less like it's been stuff with bars of chocolate and more like it was filled with chocolate ganache. You'll always see a line and it's for good reason.

This family run San Francisco Japan Town institution is slated to close its doors March 2022. If you're lucky enough to visit before then, you should really stop by this mochi shop and get a 12 pack for yourself. Make sure you go early because it's not uncommon for them to run out by noon. My favorite is the mochi filled with blueberries or strawberries. It is DIVINE.

Noe Valley is known for moms and baby strollers, so it was surprising to find this inconspicuous pastry shop along 24th St. Make sure to get the croissant with orange blossom and zaatar. If you're not sure where it is, just look for the group of people waiting outside the small shop for their order to come out.

Coop owned, Arizmendi serves pizza, focaccia and really good pastries and cookies. I think you'll find their Ricciarelli (Italian Almond Cookies) phenomenal. They are the little balls coated with powdered sugar.

While the croissants and bread here are their work horse, their cookies are out of this world. You will be sending a chef's kiss after you try their Chocolate Chip Toffee Cookie and Crazy Cookie. If you want something make sure to get the ham and cheese croissant. You won't regret it.

Up and coming German Bakery. Everything I've had here has been very very tasty.

They open at 10 am, but order early online, otherwise they will sell out of everything. The kaya toast is always in my order. It is milk bread toasted and coated with this sweet pandan topping. Their egg salad sandwich is pretty pricey, but definitely worth trying at least once.
