It is the location of the headwaters of the Mississippi river! The park is huge with lots of trails for biking or hiking, there is a canoe rental and an informational center about the river. It is a great day trip from Grand Forks, scenic drive, and close to Park Rapids for lunch!

The city has a greenway space specifically designed and designated for walks, rollerblading, bike riding, jogging. While located all over town, the greenway downtown has the river in its view and memorabilia from the great flood of 1997.
