Our favorite bar in the world. Open air place across from Playa Negra. Chill, laid back, vibe. Live music on Friday nights.

Yerlin and Javier work magic in the back and front of the house, respectively. The food is out of this world. We recommend without reservation.

One of our favorites in Cahuita. Italian dishes and pizza are very good (terrific crust). 2 for 1 cocktails. Staff is terrific. Catch a movie with the locals and turistas.

Traveler advice

Getting around

Rustic Setting/Modern Conveniences

Casa Elysium lies in a gorgeous - but rugged - rustic setting. You will take unpaved and unmarked roads to get there. The house does not have air conditioning, and instead relies on a passive cooling system that includes ceiling fans in every room. Parking is free, but it is uncovered. The Property is fully fenced, but the fencing is more of a deterrent than an actual security feature.
What to pack

Rain Forest

The Property is in a rain forest. It rains in a rain forest. Plan your wardrobe accordingly.
Customs and culture

Utilities.

Intermittent and occasional power outages are not uncommon in Limon Province. Most are of limited duration. When the electrical power is out, so too is water, wi-fi, and internet.
Customs and culture

Water - Drink it.

Casa Elysium's water come from an underground aquifer. It is clean and pure; we have never experienced any problems, and drink the water without hesitation. There is a Brita filter pitcher in the refrigerator. Stay hydrated.
