Food scene

Technically a coffee shop but the food is so damn amazing I go here often for lunch or dinner as well. They have happy hour specials in the evening, one of which is BOGO Free burgers on Thursday night. The Bahn Mi tacos are my personal favorite. Large outdoor eating options for those with pets or just want to enjoy the outdoors.

You'll need reservations for this new Modern Korean restaurant. The atmosphere is magazine worthy and the food is out of this world good.

Yellow Jacket is classic old school Austin before it got taken over by, well... everyone else moving here. It's where "hole in the wall" phrase was created. (not really, but you'll see what I mean when you go experience it). My favorite time to go is for their Sunday Brunch for their delicious food and the best dang Bloody Mary's.

If you've looked at basically ANY blog of "Austin's Best Restaurants" I'm betting you've come across this local favorite. It's famous! So you'll be famous too if you eat here by association... or something like that. :)

We are cutting it close but thank goodness this place was only 0.9 miles from our Airbnb so we could add it to the "Walkable" guidebook. You can't possibly visit from out of state and not partake in some good ole fashioned Texas BBQ. Unless you're a vegetarian, even then I highly recommend their homemade pickles. :)

Brought to you by the Bunkhouse Group which was started by famous Austinite Liz Lambert. If that means nothing to you then maybe you can go knowing you'll be impressed by the coffee, food and atmosphere.

Coffee Shops

Flat Track Coffee shares it's building with a bike shop because..... Austin :). They serve a mad cup of jo as well as baked goods sourced from some of my favorite local bakeries like Sour Duck and Mr. Naturals which is just down the street if you have a hankering for more mouthwatering Chocolate Vegan Donuts.

Entertainment

Want that Texas Two Steppin experience while in the big city?? Then walk on over to The White Horse where you'll boogie to some live country music inside and grab tacos on the back porch when you get a hungry. This is literally the only place in Austin I go to to dance.

Nightlife

I can imagine people like Brad Pitt and George Clooney enjoying an old fashion in this boujee bar setting. They have carefully crafted every detail to make it look like it just "happened" verses being well designed and thought out. Enough about the scene though... the cocktails are top notch! Always hand crafted, never pre-mixed and never so sweet you have that sour puss face on, steering the perspective suiters away.

The street that never sleeps... Dirty 6th used to be the go to place for bar hopping but Rainey St is the cool new kid in town. Live music, food, bars, yard games and people out looking for a good ole time. It runs from Cesar Chavez all the way to Lady Bird Lake.
