Drinks & Nightlife

It's the best, the busiest, the loudest, and there for the full skimpy experience. Due to the new lock out laws, this is the only place you can get into after 12am (midnight).

The only other option to the Gold Bar. Lockout is at mignight, however if you're in there before then, you can stay till closing (2am). Top rated skimpies, dance floor, live bands etc.

Famously blown up by the bikies in the year 2000 following a dispute they needed sorting that got sorted, the little pub was stronger for it and survived. Others weren't so lucky. After the council agreed to tarseal the road from the main highway at 1km per year, several years later in 2018 it is now fully sealed. The best of bogan pub meals made with love and the freshest ingredients, you won't be dissapointed. If you're going this far, you may as well make a day of it and head to Rowles Lagoon. Used years ago for speed boat racing, the 10 years of drought saw it empty. Now after a few years of steady rainfall, the lagoon is a bird paradise and accomodates camping.

Sightseeing

1pm is blast time! It's not always easy to spot and sometimes a dissapointment, but to view the Super Pit in it's entirety is definitely an experience. View at night before the gates close at 7pm. This is the whole reason you came to Kal right?!

A tin shed pub with the best burgers and beer battered fries. Use the permament marker supplied to leave your mark anywhere on any wall except the historical room. On the way to Ora Banda, or on the way back, it depends how big your day is. An escape for the locals that have nowhere else to go to 'get away from it all' and a 'rest spot' for the many day ride motorcycle riders that need to freshen up before heading back to Kal.

The best place to visit because my girlfriend works there and she rocks! The most friendly, informative ladies you will find to help you through all the goodies you came to do and see in Kalgoorlie. You will be well looked after for anything from self guided tours, the history of the town, the most amazing photographic worthy buildings you'll ever see (I might be biased), wild flower season and the reason why people like me have stayed well past their 2 year Kalgoorlie plan. This town is really that amazing and I'm glad you came to visit all our quirks ;)

Don't forget Boulder! It's own main st Burt St,has undergone a transformation 'thanks' to the 2010 earthquake, which, if you don't look too far behind the brand new facades made in olden day 'guise, has created a really sweet cafe type french feel without the cafes or the french and implemented some originality back into the shops of 100 years or so ago. In real speak, the cracks of the earthquakes are still there and well placed art may be disguising said damage. Regardless, Burt St rocks what Kalgoorlie doesn't. A more artistic appeal with gift shops sporting hand made creations. I challenge you to spot the Gargoyles.

Arts & Culture

Museums bore me no end, but this even one I can do really well. Don't miss the original authentic little houses out the back of the museum or climb up the headframe if you're game, scarier than it looks.

A museum of sorts, large open planned area that can be walked around to view how mining originated in Kal. This place has been open, closed and open again to the public due to funding issues but I believe it to hold the essence of what mining for gold is all about. Worth the trip, take a couple of hours at least.

Parks & Nature

Feel like walking off some kilos? A bush walk worth doing, approx 3-4kms (depending on the track you take). There are water stations along the way but always best to take your own. Dogs must be on leashes and watch for snakes in summer as they like to share the path too.

Entertainment & Activities

Seriously, 8 houses walk or so away. Stop off for a pre movie wine &/or the same, at the Rydges on the way ;) If you wait till night time and look out the backyard, you can even see the Rydges sign to help light your way. It's that easy.
