A relaxed guide to Copenhagen

Food scene

To many a big part of traveling is food. This have been the inspiration to add a few good places to explore in Copenhagen. This is the food and places I think will suit guests in the Boathaus.
This is a new addition to Copenhagen and very much worth a visit. Nine old wooden barns and more than 1.5 hectares of nature make up what we call BaneGaarden (railway station). It is a lovely oasis and an organic breathing space and gastronomic gathering located half an hour from the Boathaus. I has the same far away from the big city noise as the Boathaus.

For a different experience you should visit the charming and cozy vessel Jungfruhamn. The ship has its original history in Sweden, as the name also suggests. Now the ship adorns the small cozy houseboat harbor Skibbroen in Copenhagen, as a floating coffee bar station.

If you venture our on Christania at lunch time I can recommend this, out of the ordinary, restaurant. It vegetarian and quite down to earth so you will easily feel comfortable in this place. Dont expect fancy drinks and fine dining. This is wholesome quality served on clean but well-used tableware.

This is a cozy coffeeshop not far away from the Boathaus. They serve good coffee and cake. They out a real effort into making incredibly good bread and small pastries. If you like you can get and old-fashioned ice cream waffle from Hansens Flødeis.

This is the hippest on the list. But its add because it one of my favourite places in Copenhagen. You will get excellent food and the possibility of swimming. In winter this can be combined with sauna. In addition, an excellent menu of good beer and wine. I would say that I often just come to enjoy a coffee and the view.

Sticks 'n' Sushi is found many places in Copenhagen. The one on Amager Strandvej is our favourite. We often go a lunch with the kids. It is expensive but we all love the food and the service is great. The building it selv is an old converted gunpowder house. You should combine the lunch with a walk on Amager Strandpark just across the road.

Sightseeing

Christiania is a jumble of small roads and paths. In Copenhagen this is one of the places you will find small pockets of something untamed and organic. You can find small oases where you can take a break from buses, cars and busy bikes. I love to look at the different houses and architecture you will find in Christiania. Tak a walk along the lake and look at the small wooden housen. The path might end at famous restaurant Noma.

Neighborhoods

Jægersborggade is located in the multicultural district of Nørrebro. It has gone from being anonymous to become one of Copenhagen's most hip and buzzing streets. Here you will find everything from the Michelin restaurants to small design shops and a packaging-free supermarket. Personally I love to explores the small designshop to discover new trends and ideas. So much to see and explore.

Værnedamsvej is a small, busy shopping street located between Vesterbro and Frederiksberg. The street is very cozy and relaxed but sometimes a bit busy. You vill find French inspired Granola and smaller cafes and shops

Traveler advice

Getting around

Harbour bus

The yellow harbour buses take you up and down the harbour on a regular bus ticket. And they’re running on electricity.
