Don't actually go to the elephant orphanage. It is crowded and very 'staged' for tourists. Ask Rizvi to take you to some of the neighbouring elephant places where you will be the only people there.

The big Buddha will give you a great view out over Kandy. Well worth the climb. It costs 200 rps each. Get a hindu blessing while you are there (if the hindu temple is open)

If you are energetic climb Adam's Peak. The climb starts at 2:30am so that you are there for sunrise at 5:30am. Over 5000 steps, but well worth the effort.

The best way to get down to Colombo is by train. Observation class is Rps 800 per person. It is a very scenic trip and much less stressful than travelling by road.

The botanic gardens have an amazing variety of local and exotic plants. It is also a beautiful place to relax and take time out. It costs 1,000 Rps for foreigners, but worth a visit.
