A very rewarding trek up Embsay Crag, there are slightly easier routes and ones which are a bit of a climb but great views from the top whichever route you go. There is parking by Embsay reservoir or you can start from near Embsay church. It is possible to walk from Ellergill Barn but that requires some walking on roads as well as using footpaths.

Ellergill Barn overlooks Skipton golf course so is the perfect accommodation for people wishing to play there. It also means those not wishing to play can sit on the terrace and see the players at a few of the holes. There are also some nice footpaths across the course. If you turn left on to Brackenley lane and follow the road under the railway bridge, you will see the footpath on your left as the lane starts to go uphill.

Fantastic bar and restaurant. Food is mostly little plates of European / Middle Eastern dishes. Good value children’s menu. The location is what really sets this place apart, especially if you are lucky enough to have a table on the terrace outside overlooking Skipton and the Leeds-Liverpool canal.
