Incredible Mediterranean food and vegetarian options. Highly recommend the chickpea fries. They also have a food cart down by the water alongside the Eastern Promenade trail and the marina there -- another great place to visit!

Portland's most famous craft beer export. Brewery is only a few blocks away over on Thompson's Point. Any of their beers is incredible, but it all started with The Substance.

Sightseeing

Beautiful Olmstead-designed park across the entire Northeastern height of land of the Portland promenade. Beautiful views across the harbor and up Casco Bay. Awesome spot to hang for the afternoon with a picnic, and the paved trail along the shoreline is a great place for a walk. There's also East End Beach right at the base, a great place to take the dog or go for a quick dip in Casco Bay!

At the front of a neighborhood full of beautiful old ship captains' homes, the Western Prom is a long park facing Southwest that offers a great view of the White Mountains at sunset. Plenty of space to stretch out for an evening picnic.

Smaller park that offers incredible views of downtown Portland, Back Cove, and the White Mountains beyond at sunset. If you walk to the edge and look right, you can see Mount Washington! Can get a little crowded at sunset.

Beautiful local beach hidden away in South Portland. Great place for dog walking (if you don't mind many other dogs) in the early mornings and evenings and fun place to go for a swim. Street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods, or a formal beach parking lot on Willow Street. On the north end of the beach is a fun old fort with a long breakwater you can walk to the Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse.

Gorgeous dune-lined beach 20 minutes from the house. Must pay to park, but a great day trip spot if you're with a group or a family. Have to walk a couple hundred feet to get to the beach, and then usually a couple hundred feet more to find your own spot.
