Food Scene

The Tiki is at the back of Deerfield Cove Marina and offers a menu with something for most - meaning sandwiches, burgers, wings, and salads. Great beer selection and under new ownership and management that is super attentive and friendly. Open air seating, large patio, lots of sports TVs, restrooms, and tie-offs for boaters. You can also get there by land if you go to the Deerfield Cove Marina - plenty of parking and walk out the gangway.

For a really nice sit-down, non-bar food meal, try McCloud Mountain. Nice menu selection, good service, and amazing views. Definitely call for a reservation and plan ahead getting there - about a 30 minute drive, but worth it!

One of the larger restaurants and bars on the water. It's a bit of a boat ride over there, but really worth it. Just plan for the ride and make it an event! Outdoor cornhole, live music, broad menu, great drink and beer selection, and a festive lake & beach type vibe. Lots of TVs for sports watching and always something going on. Just make sure you have enough gas in the boat and go - it's a "lake life" thing, right?

The Springs Dock is right around the peninsula to the left by water from Deerfield. They offer the closest (and typically one of the cheapest) places for gas on the water. Tie off and fill up! Great lakewear, bait, and ice cream selection in-season too!

Shanghai is about a 15 minute boat ride from Deerfield (out and to the right). They have gas, boat rental, probably the neatest gift shop of "lake decor," and a great restaurant and bar. Pizza is great (among other things on the menu), service friendly, and really good beer selection. They are also an authorized Chaparral and Harris dealer if you need service. Plenty of tie-offs for boaters.

Maybe a 15 minute boat ride from Deerfield - and worth it. Regular live music on the patio dock (check their website or Facebook page for schedule and times). Convenient gas service, ice, and good lakeside food and bar service from the "pirate ship" bridge built behind the bar by a former Disney set designer. Taco Thursdays are a favorite. Fantastic scenic ride by water in and out...

Golf

How a golf course got carved among these hills and ridges is amazing. The course will test all of the shots in your bag and may require you to create a few new ones. Stunningly scenic and rolling. Not a gimmicky track at all - but there's holes here where you ask "how do I play this?" and you do. Lots of fun. Definitely worth a round when you're here.

Unique to this Area

We love supporting local businesses and this is a favorite for us. Great wine selection, an eclectic and tasteful "living room" atmosphere inside and great panoramic views from the deck out back. Try the BBQ sliders and Red Blend wine - really great! If you like the wines, they've got a great quarterly wine club and will ship you bottled vacation memories after you leave!

200,000 acres of double and single track riding in the vistas of east central Tennessee. ATV and Side-by-side rentals, or bring your own. Plenty of mud, fun for most in the family (ha!), and definitely unforgettable. Go for a day ride, pack a picnic lunch, and be back to the lake for sunset and cookout on the deck!

If you're in the area and want to see the State Park of how "Norris Lake" actually got to be a lake from the Powell and Clinch Rivers - this is the place! Built in 1936 by the TVA, this was the first dam of it's kind to bring electrification and recreation to this part of Tennessee. It served as the model for over 2 dozen more dams and recreation areas in the Tennessee Valley.

Groceries and Essentials

Clean, typically good selection of most anything you need, nice flower shop, and full beer and wine section. They are a little west of LaFollette on Central Ave/63, but you *may* pass it depending how you came into town.

The Deerside Market is right at the front of the Deerfield Resort and offers a little bit of everything. The owners work there daily and go out of their way to ensure you find (or they can get) what you need. Deerside Market has saved many a trip back into town (what do you mean we are out of ketchup?).

Attention Hikers! Although this trailhead and parking starts right downtown in LaFollette, you'll be quickly rewarded with beautiful views and it's a manageable hike - not super tough. Get a good trail map online ahead of time to plan - but you knew that... :)

More hiking if you're interested. Great lake and rolling hill views. Good playground and plenty of picnic areas. Can even bike the area if you brought them. It's about 35 minutes from Deerfield - right down near the I-75 Exit 134 - and you may have passed it on the way in (depending on your arrival route).
