Flat walking or cycle route from Falkirk to Edinburgh. Many nice pubs and countryside along the way. You decide how far you want to go. Historical fact is that this canal is how they used to transport goods between Glasgow and Edinburgh. Look out for lovely pub at Ratho (Brige Inn, Ratho)

Can’t visit Edinburgh without a visit to the castle. It can be a little pricey to get in but if you have a relative that fought and sadly died whilst serving as a Scottish soldier you can visit the cenotaph and the unknown soldiers grave in the chapel for free. Tell entrance staff that you want to look up your relatives name in the soldiers books and they should let you in to do this (it’s just happens to be handy that you get to see most of the castle on the way to the cenotaph).
