Only 4 hour drive from Alameda. Look out for weather driving restrictions in the winter and COVID restrictions for entry to the park. It's generally difficult to find camping and accommodations around the park in the peak season so planning ahead is best. You can also do a day trip if you leave early enough to find parking in the Valley.

Car break-in's are Common

Do not leave any backpacks, bags, purses or anything of value in your car -- car break ins are quite common in the Bay Area.
