Neighborhoods

Carroll Gardens is named after two things: 1. Carroll was the last living signer of the Declaration of Independence. 2. Because of the unique city block planning, this neighborhood has gardens in the front and back of many of the homes. I used the stock photos for these guidebooks but, co incidentally , that is my house the guy is walking the dog in front of!

Traveler advice

Getting around

Walk, ride bikes, subway

The subway is 300 feet from the front door and is being cleaned thoroughly every night, however, if that doesn’t appeal to you, walking is my preferred transportation mode, sidewalks are wide and lovely. Citibike racks are also everywhere and are very popular with many bike lanes throughout the neighborhood.
