Food scene

Open since 1996, Homer Brewing Company has been welcoming both locals and visitors to the brewery most every day, year-round, after noon. We love this little brewery! Kari has worked here for the past five summers and Aaron has worked there the past two. Needless to say, it's near and dear to our hearts, like an old family friend. You won't be find much finer souls than the owners of HBC, Steve and Karen. An absolute must visit!

Located across the bay in Kachemak Bay State Park. The Glacier Lake Trail follows flat terrain through stands of cottonwoods & spruce, and across the dry outwash plain of Grewingk Glacier. It ends at the broad open beaches of Grewingk Glacier Lake. This trail offers superb views of the glacier and its surrounding peaks. Excellent day- hike. As with any trail in the state park you will need to book a water taxi for drop of and pick-up. Boat access is the only way in. You can arrange one with our friend's at Coldwater AK or Mako's Water Taxi.

Tutka Bay is the longest bay on Kachemak Bay. Bordered by high, steep mountains, you get a real sense of remote Alaska here. Trails lead to the top of Grace Ridge and up to Tutka Lake. This scenic bay is a great place for the more experienced kayaker to explore. Water taxis or float planes are the means of transportation to these areas off the road system. A water taxi can transport you and your kayak, or guided kayaking trips are available for most of these locations. There are more than 15 campgrounds, five public use cabins, and private yurts and cabins in the park that can be reserved through the state parks office or online at the Alaska State Park website. Book early, they are very popular.
