Sightseeing

Go to Riverstreet, grab your favorite alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink in a ‘traveler’ cup and embark on the ferry on Riverstreet. It’s free and goes all day every few minutes back and forth across the river. It’s a great way to enjoy the city from the water. When on the other side you can visit the hotel lobby there and sometimes they have snack and lemonade in the lobby, too (it’s free).

Walk from the South End of Forsyth Park all the way to Riverstreet (and back if you are adventurous). Savannah is a very walkable city and you will want to walk the squares and enjoy them.

Parks & Nature

At the beach you can just soak in the sun and waves, also do paddle-boarding, ride bikes on the beach (they can be rented there as we have a really nice flat beach it’s very easy to ride bikes there), kayak out to little Tybee Island or try your luck at fishing or kite-surfing. Parking on Tybee is enforced between 8am and 8pm and costs about $2 an hour (I think). But you can also get day passes at the city hall, which is on the main street.

Everything Else

Check out this website: http://www.connectsavannah.com/ for today’s events in Savannah. You can filter by type: Art Patrol, Soundboard, Performing Arts, other Happenings. The publishers actually publish the ‘Connect’ magazine in written form also and you can pick it up anywhere downtown for free (restaurants, hotel lobby’s). I use this magazine extensively as they are the most comprehensive on what is happening in town. Also check the Savannah Civic Center website to see what is happening there during your visit. If I think of anything extra, I will send you a message or come by and chat- or else if you are looking for a special event, let me know!
