This is an excellent hike and a great place for overnight camping if you're adventurous and have the gear. You can also hike from Etang de Rabassoles to Etang de Laurenti and make a day of it. Here's how to get there:
Etang de Rabassol
(70 min en voiture et 1 heure de randonnée) | (70 min drive and 1 hr hike)
En voiture de Quillan à Axat puis à Mijanes, juste après le village, la route tourne dans un virage serré à droite, continuez tout droit sur une piste forestière, arrêtez-vous au parking la Restanque; et prenez le chemin qui monte à droite en direction du lac (et bien d’autres encore), prenez une carte que vous pourrez obtenir au supermarché.
Drive from Quillan to Axat and then to Mijanes, just after the village, to road winds up, in a sharp right turn, go straight onto a forest track, stop at the parking la Restanque; and the take the path up on the right towards the lake (and many more), do take a map, which you can get in the super market.
