Woodbridge is approx. 20 minutes from Framlingham and has a great selection of shops, pubs and cafes to easily spend half a day. There is a lovely path along the river and it is possible to go crabbing off the jetty near the boating lake also.

A day out in Framlingham! Taking in the market area and shops. The Castle is a must to visit, you can listen to the tour and go round at your own pace, which is excellent with children. Take a walk around the mere (we advise taking wellies in winter or if it’s been raining!). Peruse the little boutiques and cafes and enjoy people watching on the market square. Lovely town made famous by Ed Sheeran's Castle on The Hill song.

Although slightly further afield, Southwold is a lovely coastal village. Sandy beaches are perfect to keep everyone entertained for hours. Enjoy a walk and a an ice cream on the pier, play on the amusements and maybe sample some beer from Adnams as this is it’s hometown! The brewery and distillery tours are highly recommended and should be booked in advance.

Accessible by road or by foot bridge/small ferry boat from Southwold, Walberswick has a lovely sandy beach with some dunes for shelter. There is a great pub in the village and some nice delis, but it’s most famous for crabbing off the bridge.

Sutton Hoo is the site of two 6th- and early 7th-century cemeteries. One cemetery contained an undisturbed ship-burial, including a wealth of Anglo-Saxon artefacts of outstanding art-historical and archaeological significance, most of which are now in the British Museum in London.
