Co-owner Debra Russell, another Whale Wins alum, describes Eve’s menu as “elevated hippie food.” That means, for example, that a veggie classic, the greens-and-grains bowl, here comes with the option to add marinated short rib. The pretty dining room has a view out onto Fremont Bridge.

The tender, bite-size beef and potato dumplings here are especially satisfying when consumed after a night of drinking — which no doubt explains why Pel Meni stays open until 2:30 a.m. The shop is down an alley a few steps from Fremont’s Lenin statue; cross the threshold into the colorful but barebones dining area and it’s easy to imagine you’re back in the USSR.

breakfast/ brunch/ lunch... The late Indian guru Sri Chinmoy is the guiding spirit behind this vegetarian breakfast-and-lunch diner. Egg dishes dominate the menu, and other highlights include sesame pancakes, tofu migas, and soy-bacon BLTs. The bright, airy dining room and sarong-clad servers create a mellow atmosphere that can make a nice alternative to the hash houses that typically serve up similar fare.

Okay.. this is strange, but I do not lie. This is one of the BEST poke spots outside of Hawaii... again, the line outside in summer is an indicator again of truth... feels like you are going in to order raw fish in a gas station, but the truth is... It's a local go to for cheap POKE... over and over. Poke BOWL in fremont is a second to 45th. Poke rhymes with "okay" but tastes much better. Sometimes written as "poké", this Hawaiian treat of marinated seafood has taken the mainland by storm, and Washington is one of the best places to get it. Poke (which simply means "to cut crosswise into pieces") was created centuries ago by native Hawaiians who sliced reef fish and mixed in limu
