Food Scene

Organic, vegan, and gluten-free friendly; fresh baked goods; juices and smoothies; sandwiches, salads, bowls, and daily specials; house-made kombucha. Delicious, generous portions, and something for everyone. It’s common for a line to form on weekend mornings, so grab a menu at the register and decide what you’ll have while waiting!

An unexpected find with delicious food in the Flamingo Heights neighborhood of Yucca Valley. Though the menu is small, it’s vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free friendly. Lunch/Dinner served Wed-Sun 2p-7p. La Copine is justifiably popular but doesn’t take reservations. Closed for a few weeks during the summer and week in the winter so check the website! www.lacopinekitchen.com

Because $2 Bloody Marys with a chili flake rim! The Palms is a dive, an institution, an adventure, a meal, a hangover, perhaps a life-changing experience. We love breakfast here, but any visit is bound to be memorable. They're open when they say they will be, but the hours are strange. Google "Palms Restaurant Wonder Valley" for hours and have fun!

Drinks & Nightlife

A well-worth-it, 20-minute drive to Pioneertown. Think about making reservations for dinner at this honky-tonk especially if there’s a band playing. Though far from fancy, Pappy’s is an institution. Local, national, and international acts play here—visit the website to see who’s playing during your visit! Some shows require purchase of tickets/cover charge. www.pappyandharriets.com (Good and wide variety of food served until 9:30p. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.)

Entertainment & Activities

What is it?! From the website: “The Integratron is the fusion of Art, Science and Magic. This historical structure is a resonant tabernacle and energy machine sited on a powerful geomagnetic vortex in the magical Mojave Desert." We recently experienced our first Sound Bath at the Integratron and highly recommend it! Visitors lie down on comfortable pads in the acoustically-perfect space and relax to live sound played on quartz bowls. The sounds are intense without being too loud, and some actually feel the sound’s vibrations in their bodies. It is certainly a unique experience! Check out the website for all the details. Reservations required. www.integratron.com

Shopping

Yucca Valley is a small city of 25,000 just west of Joshua Tree. You'll find grocery stores, gas stations, independent and chain restaurants, Home Depot, Walmart...everything you need that you haven't found in JT. You'll also find Old Town Yucca Valley: a small but strip of trendy boutiques, vintage and antique shops, with a little desert weirdness thrown in.
