It’s like a trip back to the 50s but the big screen is in HD colour. Tip: bring cash with you – the Interac tap feature was not available in the 50s. It is a classic drive-in and will bring back memories of watching movies under the stars. The word, “Authentic” is used regularly by those who have enjoyed this little piece of history. For a traditional theatre, one is located in the Goderich square.

Just minutes from Grand Bend's famous “strip,” The Huron Country Playhouse is the perfect spot to experience summer theatre. There are 650 seats in the mainstage auditorium and 300 seats in the Playhouse II auditorium. Infrared heating will keep you warm on the cool nights. Wheelchair access is available to patrons who require special assistance. Many of Stratford Festivals stars get their start here. The main auditorium is housed in a spacious century-old barn. The beautifully landscaped grounds and gazebo are ideal for a picnic before or after the show. There is a restaurant and gift shop on the premises as well. To check out the lineup of shows, visit www.draytonentertainment.com the box office at 519-238-6000. The address is RR 1, 70689 B Line, Grand Bend. Advice: Many shows sell out fairly early in the season so be sure to get tickets at the time of booking.

Beaches

There are many great sandy beaches close by the cottage. Either walk to our Melena Beach or take the drive and visit other great local beaches.
The Main Beach: There are several access points to the beach if you drive through Main St. and head west. There is free parking at every beach in Bayfield. Teenagers enjoy jumping off the pier. I would warn against this in rough conditions as there are no lifeguards and the pier can create an undertow, pulling even strong swimmers out towards deeper water.

If you are not familiar with the Bend you have to see it (at least once). This is a world class beach that is extremely shallow and great for children. I must warn you, I have not gone since I turned in my six-pack in for an office chair and a "dad bod". This is where the pretty people go to show off their hard work at the gym. It is also an amazing beach with tonnes of volleyball courts. It is always packed on hot, sunny days. It is sandy and safe and goes on for miles. It is patrolled by professional lifeguards. The beach is watched during the peak season from June to Labour Day. Unlike Bayfield, this is where the power boats and the Seadoos go to show off so it is not a quiet beach. The water is filled with people and paddleboards. The water is typically warmer in the Bend than other beaches (and really warm in some spots). There is a very clean public change room and shower. There are also playgrounds on the beach for the children. The shops are cheesy and the food is fast and fried. This is known as a party town.
