Nachbarschaften

The streets name is derived form the former Discalced (barefoot) monastery (Trinitarios Descalzos), which was located here before it was dissolved in 1835. From the outside you can still see the tower and parts of the church, which nowadays are embedded in the building of the Brotherhood Cristo de Burgos. Curiously, the tower stands on the roof terrace of the apartment and is stylistically quite unique. A reference to the monastery are the street names. The dormitories of the monks used to go to Calle Dormitorio (dormitory), while the religious premises were on the Calle Descalzos (Discalced barefoot). The environment is very varied today. Northwest of the apartment is the Plaza de la Encarnación, on which stands the Metropol Parasol ("las Setas") - a modern wooden building with its organic structures by the famous artist and architect Jürgen Hermann Mayer -, and the Plaza Cristo de Burgos with its large-leaved fig trees. To the north are the more alternative neighborhoods of San Julian and Fería, where you can still find a lot of artists and handcraft shops. To the west and southwest are the shopping streets of Seville, shaded in the summer by sun sails, and to the east the monastery of San Leandro and the church of San Ildefonso. The area is full of famous bars and restaurants. For example, just north is the oldest bar in Seville: El Rinconcillo from 1670. Just around the corner at Plaza Cristo de Burgos lies the very popular bar "Los Coloniales" and a bit south the bar Alfalfa or the bakery PANYPIU, which is very popular for breakfast. The main attractions are also just a stone's throw away. In the north, the Palacio de las Dueñas can be reached in about 5 minutes on foot, Casa de Pilatos is about 2 minutes east, the cathedral is about a 8 minutes’ walk and the Alcazar about 11 minutes to the south-west.

Actually 2 activities: You can visit the roof for a nice view of the city and architecture and you can visit the roman ruins below the building. The second option is usually free of charge and suprisingly uncrowded.
