Hiking and Swimming + Golf

First - most people want to hike the White Mountains. To do so you need to get to the Kancamagus Highway which is less than 25 minutes from my house. READ: The Kancamagus Highway can be easily accessed from Rt. 16 from Conway NH. Take Rte 16 in Ossipee to Rt. 112, which is the Kancamagus Highway. Where does the Kancamagus Highway start and end? The eastern portion of NH 112 is known as the Kancamagus Highway, running 32 miles (51 km) through the White Mountains from Lincoln to Conway. 26.5 miles (42.6 km) of the highway have been designated a National Scenic Byway by the United States Department of Transportation under the name "Kancamagus Scenic Byway". SWIMMING - You may find places to take a dip going up the Kancamagus Highway but I recommend going South on Rt. 153 (in front of my house) for about 3 miles until you see Province Lake on your RIGHT. You won't miss it - the beach is on the side of the road. You can also play a round of golf at the Province Lake Golf Club and grab a bite to eat there.
It's only a few miles from my house.

I have heard the food is great and it is a good place to watch sports on TV as I only have Netflix streaming.

If you make it to Portland, Maine, you might as well enjoy the Food Scene in the Old Port. You will probably have to pay for parking; if you only need a couple hours there is paid street parking for $1.00 an hour but also plenty of parking garages.

My favorite! Been a member for years and even a docent at one time. Permanent collections and a special exhibit room that changes frequently - look it up; you won't be disappointed.

About 5 miles from my house North on 153 on the corner of Rt #25, there is a place to put a canoe in - gentle water for as far as I went.

At the end of Huntress Bridge Rd.- where it meets Rt. #25, just before the bridge, on the right is the Green Mountain Conservation building with activities and a lovely trail going down to the Saco River. Nice walk for a sunny day.
