"The four of us enjoyed our evening and the food at Grandfather’s Dream. The hot traditional donut holes which you stuff with cheese and butter and pop in you mouth were at great start to an enjoyable meal. The portions of traditional specialities are huge, so order conservatively. The interior was warm and friendly on a cold evening and the staff was friendly and helpful in suggesting specialities to savor."

"More than just top notch Cro-Asian food in Zagreb Nothing but good things to say about this place! The "Tom Kha Kung" soup was amazing and the "Suzuki" Uramaki roll stood out as my favorites. Then there was the staff.... professional & knowledgeable as well as welcoming and down to earth - just straight out good people. This combination brings out a good atmosphere and a crowd. Not to mention great drinks at the bar and good music all night long. Needless to say - I'm a fan and will be back."

"Perfect cakes in a beautiful setting When it comes to cute cafes and food that looks too good to eat, I'm a complete sucker, and Magnolia totally won me over. Their cakes are absolutely beautiful, and they taste wonderful too. I definitely recommend Magnolia for a cup of coffee and a pastry. Oh, and they have unicorn macarons too!"

"High Quality Artisinal Bakery Amazing bread, croissants, pastries. It is clear they use butter and not some kind of cheap oil most of the chains use. Staff is friendly. Try one of the muffin shaped pastries that are not muffins but some delectable yeast based treat with filling. More expensive but there is a price for quality. Delicious!"

Parks & Nature

Maksimir Park is a large public park and recreation area, and the oldest park of its kind in Zagreb. Considered a unique cultural heritage site, it was founded in 1787 and at the time represented the first of its kind in southern Europe. The park was dedicated to the Zagreb Bishop, Maksimilijan Vrhovac, and while it once lay at the outskirts of the city, it is now surrounded by a number of major neighborhoods. The park was formerly a dense forest comprising oaks and hornbeams. Some remnants of the forest still exist, and in total the park spans an area of over 1000 acres. The baroque style of the park was redesigned in 1839 to incorporate romantic and neoclassical features. This shaped the park into what it is today, and entailed the grading of hills, the creation of lakes and the building of bridges and pathways. Today the park is a popular family hangout spot and an ideal location for picnics in summer. It features 5 sprawling lakes, as well as creeks and meadows that are home to a wide range of local fauna and flora. To the south of the park is the iconic Zagreb Zoo, where you will find animals like sea lions, otters and piranhas on display. The zoo hosts regular interactive feeding times, which give you the opportunity to get close to your favorite animals. The most photographed parts of the park are its pavilions, in particular the Echo Pavilion and the Bellevue Pavilion, which was constructed in 1843.
