Local Walks

Walking is the best way to immerse yourself in the beauty of Queenstown and it's surrounding mountains.
A little bit remote and hard to find, this track is a steep 30-40mins up to a small dam. From there you walk along a pipeline to a platform with mind-blowing views back across towards Queenstown.

Sam Summers hut is a 45 min one way track through native bush. If you have a couple of hours, do the Mt. Crichton loop (continue on rather than turning back at the hut)

Day Trips

There are several places worth visiting if you have enough time in the area.
A beautiful town at the end of Lake Wakatipu. Stand on the Glenorchy Wharf, walk around the lagoon, enjoy a coffee at one of the local cafes or continue on to Paradise or Kinloch for more adventures.

Beautiful and remote, Paradise is only an extra 20 minutes onward from Glenorchy. Don't expect any civilization, I only recommend this for the amazing views and native beech forest. There are also several great walks in the area. Gravel roads.
