Restaurants, Cafes & Coffee Shops

These are some of my local favorites for places to eat and hang out.
This is one Tucson's coolest little coffee shops. It's got a very cool urban vibe, great coffee, tasty treats, and it's a short walk to 4th Avenue and downtown.

We refer to this place as "The Mercado" and it's definitely worth the trip to check it out. It's got a few dining options (casual to high-end), a great coffee shop, an excellent bakery, and some cute shops. It's a local neighborhood meeting place where they host outdoor entertainment some nights. Day or night, this place is fun to visit. A great way to check out Tucson is to take the trolley from the university, through downtown, and end your trip at The Mercado.

I really like NY-style pizza joints and this is the best one of it's kind in Tucson. It's in the heart of downtown and it's been there for a long time. It's not fancy, but the pizza is killer and it's got a bar in the back if you are inclined to have drink or a beer with your pizza.

This is an interesting place with great food. The space was transformed from a funeral home into this unique restaurant space. It's got some period elements and a great outdoor space.

4th Avenue between University and Downtown is a great area. And Cafe Passe is right in the heart of it all. It's a great spot with a KILLER secluded back yard open-air court-yard that occasionally has live entertainment.

This is a new restaurant in Tucson. It's hip and cool place to hang out and the food is really good too. It used to be Rincon Market (which we were all sad to see go), but the space has been reinvented as Flora's. It worth a visit!

This is a great trail for casual hiking/trekking or for the more adventurous. If you look North from Seneca Casitas, you can see the "finger" shown in the picture. If you are VERY adventurous, you can hike all the way to it, but even if not, it's a wonderful hike in the incredible natural beauty of the Sonora Desert.

The Street car is a mode of transportation from the UofA to the Mercado, but it's also an experience. It's fun to drive to it, board, and use it as a way to check the many cool areas of Tucson through which it passes. With one ticket, you can get off and on until the time limit runs out.
