Cruise up to Upokongaro in the car, or ride the bikes 9km from the house to the new bridge which crosses the river. You will be rewarded with scrummy food and delicious coffee. Open 9-4pm most days. A lovely little spot in the old postoffice, head out the back and see the beautiful backdrop, so peaceful and includes a lovely stream which meanders around this beautiful property.

Travel up the 100 year old elevator to Durie Hill, once at the top you will have lovely views over Wanganui and its river. A must do. Access the elevator 100m to the right of The Red Lion by City Bridge. Or walk up the more than 150 steps to the top, great if you want a work out!

Great walks around the lake, mostly flat takes around 30mins to walk around. Also a large walk through aviary, a café and winter gardens. Lots to do. At night time you can place a gold coin in the fountain and it lights up, lovely.

A beautiful spot with BBQ facilities and toilets. The gardens are lovely and there is alot of grassy areas to play cricket too.
