Food Scene

This market has a wonderfully curated selection of contemporary interpretations of Portuguese traditional food. You'll find seafood, fish, steaks, and burgers. It's a bit touristy, but I go there every time I'm in Lisbon. Find the Pasteis de Bacalhau (Cod fritters) to start. The Cafe de Sao Bento has the best steak in town. Try the strawberry icecream at Santini for desert. You can also buy great design souvenirs and, at the dried fruit counter, try the lime almonds, they're a great gift!

Recognized as one of the best seafood restaurants in town, but it's very popular and often hectic.

Well off the beaten path, this is my favorite grill restaurant, their grilled salmon is amazing! Go for the house wine, it's dirt cheap and really good. (that's a piece of advice that's true in most Lisbon restaurants).

I tried this Goan (Indian) restaurant for the 1st time in May 2018. It's truly delicious and unique. The giant prawns and the lamb were wonderful! It's a small place though, max groups of 4.

Head here for an all fish diner. They serve carpacio and tuna steak. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious! In May 2018 the art on the wall was by Ricardo Ramos, a very good friend of mine. He makes sculptures with pieces of plastic he finds on the beach. He's doing amazing work to raise awareness of the amount of plastic and debris in our beaches.

One of my favorite tascas (Portuguese Tradicional small restaurant), this place has been a classic "for ever". They do not take reservations, but it's easy to find a table. Stick to the daily menu, that's the freshest, best food!

Sea Me has super fresh, delicious fish cooked both traditionally (grilled with salt and vegetables) and in a contemporary way (try the sardine or the robalo sushi, their incredible!) It’s a little pricier, but super high quality. You’ll find half the tables full is locals and half tourists. Make sure to reserve a table. Kitchen is open until 1 am Friday and Saturday.

Of all the restaurants by the Ocean on the road to Guincho, this one ticks all the boxes: it is the least pricey, best view, great food, and great service. Sit outside for an amazing view. If you get a seat by the outside wall, you’ll get to feed the seagulls!
