A fascinating and idiosyncratic museum which John Soane built as his home in 1792-1812. There is a lovely cafe in Lincon's Inn Fields across the road. Also adjacent and interesting for walking around are the ancient 'Inns of Court' where barristers and lawyers have their chambers - quintisentially Dickensian although the buildings are pre-Victorian.

C18th feminist Mary Wollstonecraft ('Vindication of the Rights of Women') is buried here. Author Thomas Hardy was a trainee architect before he turned to writing. He re-modelled this churchyard to make way for the new railways of the steam age. He stacked the old gravestones in 'Hardy's Circle'. My hero Edward Carpenter (friend of Walt Whitman) wrote here.
