Food Scene

Great locals favorite. Fresh and delicious sea food. If you catch happy hour 4-6pm, sit at the bar and make sure to order off the happy hour menu. Great deal on fish tacos. Ask for bread and you'll get yummy sour dough bread.

This is a restaurant and bar, big on sports. Fresh, well prepared food. Yummy breakfasts too. A locals favorite as well. They used to own Brophy's before the commercial business bought them out so they moved on and became Mulligans with all of the Brophy's favorites....and locals.

Another fun restaurant for great food, happy hour and sports. Sports don't play loudly here. Great outdoor seating as well. Right off of the heard of downtown Monterey.

Great views and gorgeous drive about 35 minutes South from Monterey, Hwy 1. Drive past Point Lobos. You'll likely stop for photo ops and to just take in the views. Once at Nepenthe, there is a great deck with views, food and a cute artist shop below.

Great sea food but even cooler town to explore....very tiny, fisherman's town, Moss Landing....nothing fancy but great food, an awesome fruit stand and fun to hang out. Beach is nearby for a stroll after lunch.

Drinks & Nightlife

This is a great place to go as it overlooks the water and can be a challenge to find. It's on the 2nd floor of Sly McFly's on Cannery Row. This place hosts tons of local wines for a tasting fee, seats/tables in front of their wall-to-wall glass windows and you can order appys: cheese plates, cold cuts, etc. One of my favorites to take friends and family.

One of my favorite places for wine tasting: River Road, Salinas Valley. Gorgeous views of vineyards & a different experience then Carmel or Monterey. Wineries are: Odanata (I have passes), Talbott, Puma, Passagno, Wrath, Hahn and more.

You can explore all day here with all of the hidden shops, places to eat/drink, art galleries to explore and wineries to try too. Some shops are pricey of course, but you can find good deals throughout. Don't be afraid. Just walk in and look around everywhere. Many international guests seen here. A gorgeous walk to Carmel Beach too. You can see Pt Lobos and Pebble Beach from the Carmel Beach.

Parks & Nature

Absolutely gorgeous and a must-see. It's great for hiking and I believe scuba diving although I think you need to call ahead for reservations which I think can be difficult to get. Still an awesome place for a romantic walk, family stroll, or adventurous hike. Fit for many.
