Darkhorse Tavern is a comfortable neighborhood bar with games, food, a full bar and a great jukebox. Housed in a 1920s building, Darkhorse has kept the historical feeling with the original pressed tin ceilings, mica lamps and an oak bar. Stop by and say hello and we will be happy to serve you your favorite beverage.

Arts & Culture

The oldest haunt in Houston, La Carafe wine bar is less a ghost than a piece of living history, a timeless challenge to the contemporary nightclub scene. The cozy candle-lit tavern hasn't changed much in more than 125 years. The bar is similar to those in New York City from the same era: intimate and low lit, exuding a warmth and character that comes with the passage of time. La Carafe serves only wine and beer and can only ring you up on its now antique cash-only register. The diverse jukebox complements the atmosphere with immortal tunes from Edith Piaf, Django Reinhart, and Hank Williams.

It only takes a few seconds inside Stanton's City Bites, just north of Houston's downtown district, to get excited about the place. You’ll find everyone from energy traders to blue-collar workers mulling around the store as they wait on their orders. It’s the kind of diversity that forces you to grin because you realize something good must be happening at this convenience market-turned-burger stop to bring such a diverse crowd together.
