Nice Pub with huge garden, and good food. You can drive via the ring road, or walk from the house through farmland - it's about half an hour's walk. Turn left out of the house, and then left onto Lake Street. Take the path to the left at the bottom of Lake Street, and then in about 150 yards across the footbridge on the right. This will take you over the lake and over the railway tracks. When you come down the steps from the bridge follow the path for a few minutes until you see a track on your right. Follow the track and this will take you to North Hinksey.

An amazing range of small independent shops ranging hugely in price. It seems to sell almost everything - clothes, shoes, handbags, kitchenware. Lots of cafes plus greengrocers, butchers, florists and a fishmonger.

Essentials

This Tescos is about 10 minutes walk from the house and open from 6am to 11pm. However, there are two other convenience stores that are much closer. There is one a couple of minutes from the house on the Abingdon Road in between the Home pub (on the corner) and the Brazilian cafe. It's good for basics, but for a better range of goods walk 5 minutes further up the Abingdon Road (towards the city centre) and there is another convenience store. These shops are open until 8pm.
