Buurten

The former large NDSM Shipyard in Amsterdam has been transformed into a Post-Industrial Artistic area. Still rough edged, there are now some ten trendy restaurants and even a few good hotels, such as the budget Botel, the comfortable Hilton DoubleTree NDSM, and the outrageous crane hotel Faralda. The area can easily be reached by free ferry marked NDSM from Amsterdam Central Station.

Groceries

There is only one little store in Broek in Waterland itself. You can get some groceries there. It closes at 5.30pm and is closed on Wednesdays. Adress: Zuideinde 15. A really nice place for groceries is Landmarkt, Schellingwouderdijk 339 in Amsterdam. It has a large selection of products from the area and all are of excellent quality! Great bread too. On Saturday there is a market in Monnickendam till 14h. On Wednesday morning there is a little food market in Broek in Waterland itself.

Getting to Amsterdam by public transport

By public transport: take the bus to either Central Station or metrostation North. To reach the bus stop go right on the canal, walk towards the village. As soon as you hit the main road, follow it for 50 meters: you will find the bus stop there!
Getting around

Getting to Amsterdam by car

Parking in the city is really expensive (up to 7,50 euros per hour) so it is recommended to drive to the P&R Noord at Nieuwe Leeuwarderweg 25. You can park there for 1 euro per day. Take the metro from there! A great alternative is to drive to Mobihub Amsterdam Toren where you can park your car for free if you rent bikes.
