Sightseeing

One thing that sets Kicking Horse Mountain Resort apart from all other ski resorts is the Kicking Horse Grizzly Bear Refuge. The 20-acre area is the home of our resident grizzly bear, Boo. Boo hunts, plays, forages and explores within this natural mountainside habitat just like his wild cousins.

While exploring downtown Golden, stroll on the newly built River Walk, opened in October 2021, and over the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge at 8th Ave North. Golden is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge, which spans the river of the same name.  At 46 meters (151 feet) across, it’s the longest freestanding timber frame bridge in Canada. In 2001, over 100 members of the Timber Framers Guild came from the US, Europe and all over Canada to help raise the bridge

A short hike through dense woodlands will lead you to some beautiful waterfalls. Although short, there are some steep sections and many roots and rocks to negotiate. Head to Beeland in Spillimacheen afterwards for the best ice cream in the valley.

A forest hike along the east bank of the Blaeberry River. The trail terminates at Thompson Falls where the Blaeberry River enters a gorge through a narrow funnel. This trail has a connection to Canada’s past as the Blaeberry valley and Howse Pass were used by First Nations as a trade route. The great explorer and surveyor David Thompson also used this valley in 1807 to reach the Columbia River. 12.8 km loop 3 hours Moderate difficulty

Favourite tacos ever! Not only is the food incredible, but they do wicked cocktails and have an outdoor seated area for summertime and heated geodomes for the winter. "Lets Taco 'bout Food. The Reposados way is to use only the freshest produce to create simple, healthy & delicious fusions inspired by the flavours of Mexico."
