A good sized village about 15 minutes drive, with a large Co-op that is open in the evenings, a butcher and two pubs. There's also a Chinese takeaway, please note it is cash only!

A little further afield, about an hour's drive, Montacute has a beautiful stately home set in lovely gardens and surrounded by a picture perfect village built in golden stone.

There are several beautiful sandy beaches on the North Devon coast at Croyde, Saunton, Putsborough and Woollacombe. All worth a visit, good for surfing but not so wild that you can't just swim too.
