You must have fish and chips in Yorkshire! It’s not a bad local. If they are doing the jumbo fish it can often be two pieces of fish 🥹 Takeaway only, open until 8pm Monday to Saturday. Closed Sundays.

Lovely atmospheric place to kickstart your trip to York! The first place you’ll find across the bridge as you’re walking along the river into York centre. Usually only opens 10am and not every part is open every day.

About 10-15 mins drive south of the house is Naburn Lock - and this gem of a tea house serving only plant based food, and it’s delicious! Cakes, “cheese” scones, “sausage” sandwiches - I love my vegan food, but even Stuart thought it was really really good !! Photos of the tearoom don’t really do it justice , it’s very grand and a lovely experience.

Less than 10 minutes walk to the landing where the City Cruises leave from on the river Ouse. We loved the afternoon tea cruise. Casual but good high tea, and a great way to see the river and city.

Book a Hot Air Balloon for your stay in York! Most leave from the York Racecourse which is only a 5 mins drive away, or the Naburn Lock just south of York. I personally did this with my dad and it was one of the most incredible things I've done! (To note: it is weather conditions dependent)

Buy a ticket and explore the famous York Minster leisurely . Add on climbing the tower steps for phenomenal views ! Or - go to a church service or evensong (my favourite) and be let inside the Minster for free. You can’t stay as long , but listening to the choir is really beautiful!
