Food + Scenery

If you guys feel like taking a little trip up in to the mountains, there’s a teeny tiny little town called Green Mountain Falls... and quite honestly, it is probably one of my favorite places in the entire state. It’s a short drive from the house, up a lovely mountain pass (hwy 24)... it’s a gorgeous drive! There’s a breakfast/lunch spot up there called The Pantry. This place is an absolute favorite of natives and locals. People come from all over, just to eat there. They have a pancake that is the size of a large dinner plate & feeds at least 2 people, all of their bread is homemade, so even just the toast is incredible! Their biscuits & gravy is to die for, as is their cinnamon roll French toast. I’d venture to say that it might be the best breakfast joint you’ll ever dine at. Not only is the food amazing, but the staff is wonderful & incredibly friendly. The Pantry has been owned and operated by family for decades... and just a few steps away from the front door, there is a stunning little lake with a gazebo and a bunch of ducks swimming around. If you ask your server for “duck bread”, you’ll hear the kitchen staff holler “DUCK BREAD!!!”, and they’ll bring you a little bag of bread scraps to feed the ducks. The entire experience of driving up there, eating at The Pantry, and feeding the ducks while you walk around the little lake is a wonderful way to spend a beautiful Colorado morning with your family or friends. I promise you it will be a memory that you guys treasure. I know that sounds pretty cheesy, but it’s true! :) If you google search “The Pantry Green Mountain Falls” you’ll be able to see some pictures of the area. It’s stunning

If you’d like to stay close to the house, I highly recommend heading over to The Broadmoor… It’s not just a hotel/resort! Here you will find a variety of restaurants & bars that are well suited for a special occasion or celebration (plus, it is very close by so it makes for an affordable Uber ride if you guys plan on having a cocktail or two). Grab a drink at The Golden Bee (a personal favorite). If you’d like a fantastic steak dinner, try La Taverne. There are several different restaurants & bars all in one location over there… plus, the views cant be beat. You can check out the different options here: https://www.broadmoor.com/dining/

Sightseeing

Beautiful park with natural red rock formations. It’s truly beautiful, and it’s a great place to visit if you’re looking for some easy hiking. There’s even a paved hiking “trail”, which makes it ideal for hiking with small children or if you want to use a stroller. Entry to the park is free!! Please bear in mind that there’s not much shade, so make sure to use lots of sunscreen & take plenty of water!

This is a gorgeous park that isn’t far from the home. During warmer months, there is a great splash pad, you will often find numerous food trucks here, with weekend events or festivals. It’s also an awesome place to take a sunset walk, as there are magnificent Mountain View’s. This is also a great park to spend time outdoors with family or friends as the grounds are sprawling so there’s a ton of room to run and okay, or even lay down a blanket to lounge or have a picnic!
